The big success story of the Steinway Society of Central Florida continues to be growth of its educational program consisting of piano lessons for economically challenged children throughout Orange and Seminole counties. Through community grants, individual sponsors, and Society fundraising events, complimentary lessons are being provided at 11 locations for up to 200 young students weekly.
In addition, classes offered in community centers or boys and girls clubs, the Society now provides lessons in partnership with Seminole County School system. Three ten-week sessions a year are offered at most locations. Students range from kindergarten to ninth grade and progress over multiple classes as their skill levels improve. In the community centers, the Society provides the teacher, electronic pianos for classrooms, music lesson plans and keyboards for students to use in home practice.

SPONSORS.
Grants continue to be the major part of the Society's fundraising, with generous contributions received from individuals, corporations, foundations, and from State and local governments. Grant applications submitted to governmental agencies undergo rigorous programmatic and financial assessments. During the extensive peer panel review conducted in September 2021 by the Florida Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Steinway Society of Central Florida's Piano Lesson Program scored 99.6 out of 100 - the highest score of the 696 applications received from throughout the State of Florida. In fact, the Society has been ranked either #1 or #2 for five out of the past nine years, and never lower than #8 during that time.
